A Time-Out House has been established for young people who are at risk, or have attempted suicide or self-harm. On many occasions, they are discharged from medical care, without specific direction or place to go. This situation often leaves them with little option, but to return to an environment which may be distressful or without understanding. In many cases, they may be returning to the very environment, which is the contributing cause for their attempt at self-harm. This perpetuates the cycle and increases the potential for further self-harm.
The Time-Out House provides a safe, secure environment, where young people may choose to be referred, by medical or associated services. The House provides accommodation for up to 48 hours, so the young person can explore options for longer-term treatment and surroundings.
